Celebrating Lilja Authors on #NationalAuthorsDay

Nov. 1 is National Author’s Day, and would you believe it’s been a recognized holiday since 1949? At Lilja Communications, we are honored to help authors publish and promote their books.

Books

In celebration of National Author's Day, here are just a few of our special authors:

Mary Nelson Keithahn

A retired pastor and educator, Mary Nelson Keithahn is also a prolific writer. In addition to her work as a hymn writer and lyricist, Mary has written several books in collaboration with Lilja. Adapted from the memoirs of two of her relatives, “Elfie: Adventures on the Midwest Frontier” is a chapter book for young readers that chronicles Elfie’s story as she and her family settle in the Midwest. We were thrilled that the project became a family affair, with Mary’s granddaughter Katie Kangas creating the illustrations and another granddaughter, Hazel Keithahn, creating the “Elfie” font for the cover.

Embracing the Light: Reflections on God’s Word” is Mary’s book of scripture-based meditations and prayers that provides thoughtful reflections on Christian faith, life and mission within the framework of the liturgical and secular year.

In addition to her books for sale, we have also had the honor of helping Mary publish “We Came from Sweden,” a collection of six books on the history of her father’s family. But Mary’s not ready to stop yet! She is currently working on a companion recipe book to “We Came from Sweden,” as well as her mother’s family history.

Tom Hubler

The acknowledged “dean” of family business consulting, Tom Hubler has helped countless families strengthen connections and eliminate barriers to healthy, productive family and business relationships. Lilja helped Tom develop, publish and promote “The Soul of Family Business," which explores what it takes to run a successful family business, illustrating how love is the foundation and family values are the secret sauce for success.

Nancy Dahl

While Lilja didn’t publish Nancy Dahl’s book “GROUNDED: Leading Your Life With Intention," we did help her promote it, managing two Barnes & Noble book launches and landing her TV, radio and print interviews. Based on her 15 years as a C-suite business leader, Nancy’s book provides a clear and compelling roadmap for leading an authentic, integrated life.

Karen Wiswell and Kristine Rauenhorst

Karen Wiswell and Kristine Rauenhorst are a mother/daughter pair who were inspired to write “When Grammy Comes to Play” following Karen’s battle with acute myelogenous leukemia. The picture book serves as a reminder that the relationship between grandparents and grandchildren is precious — and if they cannot be together, they can always meet in their dreams. We at Lilja were honored to help them publish and promote their book, including connecting them with Shelley Dieterichs, who created the endearing illustrations.
