CITy of aspen
climate action plan
Lilja partnered with the City of Aspen's Climate Action Department to design their 2018 Climate Action Plan (CAP). Using custom-made charts, the CAP looks at the community’s progress to date and analysis of business-as-usual future trends against possible greenhouse gas reductions. Unique tables and iconography present a breakdown of the 46 actions the City is encouraged to adopt across six sectors to move the community closer to meeting its short- and long-term goals.
HISTORY & BRAND WALL
In 2017, Lilja Communications worked with United Properties to design graphic panels for a history installation in their new headquarters in downtown Minneapolis. United Properties'
100-year history, current and past projects, and team culture are displayed on individual panels that form a dynamic centerpiece for the new office. Moving forward, the modularity of the design allows changes at any point to stay up-to-date and fresh.
In 2015, Lilja Communications worked with the George Family Foundation to introduce the Catalyst Initiative as the next innovation in integrative health and healing. Catalyst was created to tap into the innate healing capabilities of individuals and communities, specifically traditional healing and self-care modalities found within communities of color. Through convenings and small seed grants, Catalyst has helped groups integrate mind-body approaches that are culturally meaningful into their offering. In 2017, Lilja created an infographic that celebrates Catalyst's three years of impact.
Through convenings and small seed grants, Catalyst helps groups integrate mind-body approaches that are culturally meaningful into their offering. Lilja has helped Catalyst present their recent convenings in short reports that highlight the focus of the day, demographics of the participants and engaging photographs of the convening in action. Catalyst convenings include experiential breakout sessions in mindfulness, meditation and other cultural and integrative practices for wellness and resilience.
EARTH DAY infographic
Since 2004, Lilja has worked closely with Murphy Warehouse Company, a fourth-generation family-owned company with a strong focus on sustainability. Company CEO Richard Murphy, FASLA, has become a leading advocate for businesses to adopt similar green initiatives. Over the years, Lilja has supported Murphy’s sustainability efforts in a variety of ways, including designing a striking infographic in honor of Earth Day, which highlights the company’s green initiatives and was shared with customers, community leaders and media.
SALT LAKE CITY
URBAN GREENS MARKET TOOLKIT
The Urban Greens Mobile Market was established by Salt Lake City, in partnership with local food advocacy organizations, after being awarded a U.S. Department of Agriculture grant in November 2015. After successful completion of the project, the City approached Lilja to help put together a report that would be submitted to the Department of Agriculture and could act as a toolkit for other communities interested in starting a mobile market.
SALT LAKE CITY
Lilja has consulted on various communications campaigns for Salt Lake City's Sustainability Department (SLCgreen) and supported branding and graphic design. In 2017, Lilja provided strategic communications support to engage the public on impending changes to SLCgreen's popular Neighborhood Cleanup program. In addition to assisting in the development of the survey, Lilja developed a two-sided eye-catching postcard to be used by the City at public events to promote the survey and drive traffic to the website. The postcard graphic was also adapted into a series of poster-like images optimized for use on various social media platforms.
CITY OF ASPEN
GHG REDUCTION TOOLKIT
The City of Aspen's Climate Action Department approached Lilja in 2017 to help them present the strategies and data compiled for a Greenhouse Gas Reduction Toolkit, developed in partnership with the Community Office for Resource Efficiency. Lilja created an engaging document that cleanly presents the comprehensive and complex information at the core of this important report. Published in late 2017, the Toolkit wraps up a yearlong effort with subject matter experts and organizational leaders and acts as a comprehensive resource for communities interested in reducing GHGs. Priorities for Aspen's 2018 Climate Action Plan were drawn from the Toolkit. In February 2018, the Toolkit received a Colorado Communities Award by the State of Colorado and the Compact of Colorado Communities.
TETRA PAK U.S.
When Tetra Pak needed a U.S. and Canada supplement to their 2017 Global Sustainability Report, they turned to Lilja Communications for content and design. With a tight timeline, Lilja delivered on schedule and on budget. As new pages for their existing report, Lilja worked within their existing style specifications and template to create high quality content that fits with the rest of the Global Sustainability Report.
