Who do you think you are? Lilja LifeStories clients know!

Like the television show of the same title, there's a great deal of interest these days in knowing your roots, and reflecting on where you've been.

We've been busy keeping the presses running this winter with the publication of several LifeStories projects for organizations, families and individuals. Let us know if we can help you record your story!

DR. EDGAR LECHNER A NORTH DAKOTA FARM BOY FINDS HIS WAY – TO GOPHER FOOTBALL, DENTISTRY, AND FAMILY

As Dr. Edgar Lechner reflected on his life, he asked Lilja to help him write and publish his memoir. Dr. Lechner's story is one of hard work, dedication and love of family. Born on a farm in North Dakota, his talent led him to play football for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers during their 1940 and 1941 championship seasons. Although he was drafted by the New York Giants and served his country on a navy ship toward the end of WWII, he found his way back to Minnesota. Dr. Lechner went on to pursue a successful career in dentistry, including serving as president of the Minnesota Dental Association and dentist for the Minnesota Vikings. He raised a family, enjoyed life at home and traveled the world with his beloved wife, Evie. Dr. Lechner is thrilled to share his story with family and friends, and has donated copies of his book to the University of Minnesota and the Minnesota Historical Society.

AT HOME IN THE CITY THE HISTORY OF EPISCOPAL HOMES

From its humble beginnings as the Home for Aged Women to the successful senior living residence it is today, Episcopal Homes was founded by Sister Annette Relf to help people live their final years with comfort and in dignity. To celebrate its 120th anniversary, Episcopal Homes worked with author Dave Kenney and Lilja to create a book that would honor the home's continuum of care philosophy; documenting its history and looking to the future, such as the promise of its newest residence, The Gardens, built on the Green House Model of Care. Sister Annette Relf is, incidentally, a great-great-aunt of Mary Lilja, and Mary's late mother, Katy Relf Carlsen, was instrumental in many of Episcopal Homes' advancements as a long-term board member.
